RELAUNCH OF DRC-TANZANIA MILITARY COOPERATION: THE VPM OF NATIONAL DEFENSE ON AN OFFICIAL MISSION TO DAR ES SALAAM

Capacity building for FARDC senior officers at the heart of exchanges between the DRC and the United Republic of Tanzania.

On an official mission to Dar es Salaam this Friday, April 4, 2025, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs, HE Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita met with his Tanzanian counterpart HE Stergomena Lawrence Tax, for discussions with a view to relaunching bilateral military cooperation between the two countries.

Mr. Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita, on behalf of the Congolese government, reiterated the need to continue training senior officers: "The challenges of military cooperation between our two countries are multiple, the deterioration of the security situation in the eastern part of the DRC implies instability throughout the Great Lakes region. The desired bilateral military cooperation aims at modernizing and strengthening the capacities of the FARDC. We express the need to benefit from your expertise for the training of our executives, in order to ensure the supervision of the troops" underlined the Head of the Congolese National Defense, Mr. Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita.

Recalling previous cooperation in the training of officers at the military academy and the command and staff school; as well as that of a field artillery battalion in 2023; in line with the vision of the Supreme Commander of the FARDC, the Head of State HE Mr. Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, that of the rise in power of the FARDC, Me Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita wishes to revitalize the FARDC by strengthening capacities, hence the need to relaunch cooperation in defense matters, signed in Dares-alam on September 14, 2022. The two parties therefore plan to set up a monitoring committee, responsible for studying the practical arrangements for this cooperation.

Presenting on behalf of the Prime Minister, HE Judith Suminwa Tuluka, the condolences of the Congolese government to the Tanzanian people for the soldiers who fell on the battlefield, for the freedom of the Congolese people; the number 1 of National Defense also welcomed the unwavering support of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Democratic Republic of Congo for a return to lasting peace.
