Chief of Defence Staff

Christian Tshiwewe Songesha was born on October 27, 1968 and he was appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) in July 2022.

Before his appointment as Chief of Defense Staff, Christian Tshiwewe Songesha had an illustrious military career, characterized by his service in several key positions of increasing responsibility. Notably, he served as Various Command Positions (1990 - 2014) and also served as the Commander of the Republican Guard (2014 - 2022), an elite unit tasked with the protection of the President and other high-ranking government officials. His tenure in this prestigious role underscored his strategic acumen, exceptional leadership, and unwavering commitment to national security.

 

Christian Tshiwewe Songesha holds a degree from the Higher Institute of Applied Techniques (ISTA) in Kinshasa.

 

Tshiwewe Songesha has completed a comprehensive range of military training courses both domestically and internationally. These programs have equipped him with advanced strategic, tactical, and operational expertise, enhancing his effectiveness as a senior military officer. His training encompasses specialized courses in leadership, military strategy, and operational command.
